MacLean announces expansion of global sales, service & support footprint

Next week, the mining community gathers in Toronto for the annual PDAC convention, and amidst this anticipation, MacLean Engineering unveils its plans for an expanded global service and support network. This expansion comes through the signing of three new dealer agreements, bolstering the company’s presence in Brazil, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania, Ghana, Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.

These strategic alliances mark a significant step for MacLean, enabling the provision of its innovative underground mining vehicles and support services to burgeoning mining markets across South America and Africa. MacLean has a longstanding presence in Latin America since the early 1990s, with branches in Peru and Mexico, as well as dealer partnerships in Chile (HRI), Ecuador (IASA), and Guatemala (Prosain). In Africa, MacLean has operated in South Africa since the early 2000s, with branches in Parys and Phalaborwa.

Stella Holloway, President of MacLean, expresses confidence in the collaborations, citing the partners’ local expertise as instrumental in expanding MacLean’s global footprint in ground support, secondary reduction, and production support mining vehicles. She also highlights the company’s commitment to offering battery electric mining vehicle (BEV) options, with numerous models already electrified and a successful Fleet Electrification program launched in 2016.

Tony Caron, Vice President of Global Sales at MacLean, emphasizes the growth potential in Latin America and Africa, underscoring the importance of partnerships with Stewart & Stevenson, Machbert, and Kanu Equipment. These partnerships align with MacLean’s vision of providing safe and productive mobile equipment solutions to the underground mining sector worldwide.

John-Paul Theunissen, General Manager for Africa at MacLean, acknowledges the success in expanding fleet presence outside of South Africa and highlights the strategic importance of partnering with in-country specialists like Kanu Equipment to sustain growth across Africa.

Stewart & Stevenson Colombia, a part of the Kirby Corporación group, boasts extensive coverage and support capabilities in Colombia’s heavy equipment sector. Machbert, with over 30 years of experience in the Brazilian mining industry, offers a comprehensive range of products and services. Kanu Equipment, a specialist in earthmoving and mining equipment, stands ready to support MacLean’s expansion efforts across Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

These new alliances represent a significant milestone for MacLean Engineering as it seeks to broaden its reach and enhance its support network in key mining regions around the world.
