China Non-Ferrous Metal Company has reinforced its dedication to empowering local communities, setting a transformative example through its operations in Zambia.
Robert Kamanga, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Shaft 28 Technical, unveiled remarkable progress in the dewatering process at the Shaft 28 Mine, a project energized by a game-changing $100 million investment. This ambitious effort aims to breathe new life into the mining facility and the surrounding region.
The milestone was celebrated during a visit to the Luanshya-based mine by Zambia’s Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu. Minister Nzovu underscored the far-reaching impact of the dewatering initiative, highlighting how it not only stabilizes water levels in the Kafue River but also delivers a lifeline to small-scale farmers by enabling irrigation for their crops.
The mine’s full-scale operations promise transformative benefits, including the creation of over 3,000 jobs and a projected tax contribution exceeding $23 million annually. This development marks a significant step forward in boosting the local economy and fostering sustainable growth in the region.
