DRC Exports Over One Tonne of Legal Artisanal Gold in First Half of 2025

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) exported 1,057.88 kilograms of legally mined artisanal gold between January and June 2025, according to data released by DRC Gold Trading SA on its official X (formerly Twitter) account in July.

The company highlighted that the results underscore the potential of selling Congolese gold through legitimate, traceable, and profitable channels. “With just over one tonne of artisanal gold exported in the first half of 2025, DRC Gold Trading SA proves that Congolese gold can be sold legally, in a traceable and profitable manner,” the statement said.

Export Breakdown by Branch

  • Kalemie: 302.559 kg
  • Buta: 221.651 kg
  • Bunia: 74.131 kg
  • Kindu: 447.028 kg
  • Isiro: 12.511 kg

This performance, according to the company, aligns with President Félix Tshisekedi’s push for economic sovereignty and his campaign to end fraud and smuggling in the artisanal gold sector. Formalizing the trade aims to secure national revenues, create employment, and enhance transparency.

Using the August 5, 2025, gold price from the French National Gold Counter—€91,800 per kilogram—the total exports for the period are valued at more than €97 million.
