The IS530.M1 smartphone of i.safe MOBILE: Certified smartphone for the mining sector offers better security and efficiency in hazardous areas

The Android Enterprise Recommended IS530.M1 is a high-level smartphone specifically tailored to the needs and requirements of the mining industry. It had been developed by i.safe MOBILE, the German based innovative specialist for mobile communication devices for safe use in explosion hazardous areas. Android Enterprise Recommended smartphones support features like Zero Touch and are compatible with leading EMM solutions, making them easy to deploy and manage.

The IS530.M1 is the first Bluetooth® 5.0 industrial smartphone with multifunctional ISM interface, a huge internal memory of 64 GB and the highest camera resolution of its class (13 MP main camera and 5 MP front camera) and can replace even several legacy devices.

The device is SANS Mining, ATEX Mining, IECEx Mining, CSA Mining, EAC Mining and ANZEx Mining approved.

Thanks to the multifunctional ISM interface this smartphone offers an exceptionally innovative and modular concept. The 13-pin, screwable connection makes it possible to quickly and easily change the add-on peripherals like a passive remote speaker microphone (RSM).

The instant communication feature through PTT over LTE/WiFi is another highlight of this multifunctional device. The big PTT side key enables fast and uncomplicated team communication. The latest Bluetooth® 5.0 technology allows faster transmission and a range up to four times higher than older Bluetooth technology with low power consumption.

The IS530.M1 is lone-worker-protection (LWP) ready (by third party application), a protection that is very important for the mining sector. Inside the units there are sensors that can detect a fall and fall angle. In an emergency case the phone will detect the fall and send out an alarm. The alarm first sounds on the phone itself, giving the user the opportunity to turn it off. In case it is not stopped, it will automatically call in the emergency and give the user’s coordinates for rescue.

In the typical push-to-talk group communication scenario (i.safe MOBILE cooperates with several push-to-talk providers), messages and also photos can be exchanged and the device is also suitable for MCPTT (Mission Critical Push to Talk).

The IS530.M1 has also the ability to support management tools like maintenance applications for maintenance and inspection plans. For tracking tasks i.safe MOBILE offers different solutions based on WiFi but also on Bluetooth low energy beacons. Via an application the smartphone provides tracking information in three dimensions. Especially in the event of an emergency or rescue this is a very important and valuable feature.

i.safe MOBILE offers not only the hardware but also mobile services to support companies in the mining sector to adopt IIoT solutions.

Especially important in the current pandemic situation with very strict hygiene guidelines: Due to the special surfaces and materials (Corning Gorilla Glass III and TPU) of the RG530, the device can be cleaned regularly with a disinfectant solution of 70% alcohol and distilled water or soap solution without damage.
