The North-Western Division of the Zambia Police has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting First Quantum Minerals Limited (FQML) and its mining operations in the region.
During a recent courtesy visit to FQML’s Trident Limited site in Kalumbila—home to the Sentinel Copper and Enterprise Nickel Mines—a high-level police delegation led by newly appointed Commissioner of Police Paul Achiume engaged with the company’s management to strengthen collaboration. The delegation also included Deputy Commissioner Desmond Mwanza and Senior Assistant Commissioner Kennedy Mumbi.
The visit aimed to enhance the police leadership’s understanding of FQML’s mining operations and foster a strong partnership in ensuring security and stability around the investment.
Upon arrival, the team was received by Assistant General Manager Frederic Wouters, who provided an in-depth briefing on the company’s operations, including its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives that directly benefit the host community and the wider Kalumbila district.
Following the presentation, the delegation toured the Sentinel Copper Mine, gaining firsthand insight into the scale and significance of the operations. Commissioner Achiume assured FQML of the Zambia Police’s unwavering support in safeguarding the mining investment, emphasizing its vital role in driving economic growth and national development.
