Jubilee, a company operating in Zambia’s copper sector, issues an update on its expansion plans for copper production.

Jubilee, a prominent player in metals processing across Africa, has provided an update on its copper operations in Zambia.

The company’s strategy in Zambia aims at expanding operations to achieve an initial copper production target of 25,000 tonnes per year. This strategy encompasses both augmenting Jubilee’s copper resource base and enhancing processing capacity. In pursuit of this strategy, Jubilee is enlarging its processing facilities at the Roan Concentrator and Sable Refinery, bolstered by the successful acquisition of significant licenses for virgin waste rock and untapped copper reef opportunities.

Leon Coetzer, CEO, remarked on the progress:

“I’m delighted to report significant advancements in our Zambian copper endeavors, including the discovery of a substantial new copper anomaly stretching over a kilometer at our Munkoyo Project. We’re continually broadening our access to copper resources overlooked by the industry, laying a solid foundation for expanding our copper processing operations.

“At Munkoyo, preliminary testing of around 80,000 tonnes has unveiled impressive copper grades ranging from 1.5% to 3% in what was previously deemed uneconomical by former owners. This discovery holds promise to serve as a sustainable supply source for our Sable Refinery in the area. Munkoyo showcases Jubilee’s knack for transforming abandoned surface projects into viable opportunities through top-notch processing expertise.

“At Roan, I’m pleased to announce the completion of manufacturing for the new modular front-end unit in South Africa, with anticipation for its delivery to Zambia.

“Jubilee is steadily progressing towards its initial goal of 25,000 tonnes per year of copper through the implementation of these initiatives.

“Furthermore, our collaboration with IRH on the new waste rock project is progressing well, with completion scheduled for February 29, 2024. Our focus remains on initiating the construction of copper processing modules for this exciting new copper venture.”
