Ivanhoe Mines Strengthens Leadership for Future Growth

Ivanhoe Mines has announced key leadership appointments to drive its next phase of growth. Marna Cloete, previously President, has been promoted to President & CEO, bringing nearly two decades of experience in shaping Ivanhoe into a major metals producer.

At the Kamoa Copper Joint Venture in the DRC, Annebel Oosthuizen takes over as Managing Director, succeeding Riaan Vermeulen. Oosthuizen has been integral to Kamoa-Kakula’s success over the past decade. Additionally, Tom van den Berg joins as Senior Executive, Operations, bringing extensive mining expertise from Sibanye-Stillwater and Anglo American.

Ivanhoe Mines Co-Chair Robert Friedland praised Cloete’s leadership, emphasizing her role in developing world-class projects like Kamoa-Kakula and Kipushi. Under her guidance, Ivanhoe has not only built top-tier mining operations but also focused on sustainability and community development, including the Kamoa Centre of Excellence to nurture African mining talent.

Cloete expressed pride in Ivanhoe’s transformation from a junior explorer to a global mining powerhouse. “The best is yet to come,” she stated, highlighting Ivanhoe’s commitment to innovation, talent development, and responsible mining.

These strategic appointments solidify Ivanhoe’s position as a leader in the global mining sector, poised for continued growth and success.
